It was kind of sad seeing it go...:(

Got a pic of the metal dust collecting on the all-thread because it's near the magnet inside the enclosure and magnetized the rod so the metal dust was looking all crazy around it

I really liked this setup too :crap:...but on to bigger and better things :D

Took out the tension arms on the trunk lid to make room for the port, makes it quite a bit heavier..

Got the rear deck's cutting done..cut a bit more off the back area..






The real way to hold your trunk open :D




The amp will be in the back of the trunk for this setup so the fusing, wires, etc for the amp had to be moved a bit..



^Didnt really show much of what I did, but I just turned the ground run for the amp around on the busbar so it faced the direction the amp will be...and just took the power runs off until I get more done in the trunk

Marked a board to go on the side..the line is to be cut to mate with the angled piece (you'll see)



Screwed a board to it to guide the router to cut the line..


Bam..


Mock-up..you can see the part of the wood that kind of got chipped-off and there's a slight gap, no worries...its going to be sealed and fiberglassed over



The other end of the angled piece will need holes drilled with the jig so I can attach the other side's side piece to it..

I decided the rear batteries didnt look mean enough ..so I added some ground runs on the busbar to make future battery/amp upgrades a breeze (so that I dont have to try and get runs on the negative busbar which will have the port hovering over it...it'd be kinda cramped)

And had a fire...here's one of the cutouts for these baffles..

Took the dremel and grinded down the screw heads flat in the port so I can just body filler and sand it smooth..

Some body filler...not the prettiest thing but it'll all be sanded down..

Overview :)



As you can see, though :(, there is a slight flaw that will have to be worked out...

In making the two sections (port and main chamber) meet in the middle...they werent exactly the same and were slightly different angles. So you can see in that last pic the piece running across is about 3/4" higher on the driver's side...that will need to be cut and sanded down to make flush, not a huge issue but I wasn't the happiest about it when I saw it coming together.

After some half-a$$ sanding I layed on another thick layer of resin to smooth things out..




Layed more resin and mat on the corner areas..




Pretty smoothed out on the 'mouth' area..

Got the imperfection in the top piece pretty much taken care of...touched it up a bit more though

Got the mounting areas for the subs painted black so when the 3rd baffle goes on itll look cleaner..

Got the back panel of the port on and then another layer to double layer it (the amp will be mounted to this in the morning)

The passenger side of the port...straight into the cabin :(

Got a piece cut and 'instant bond'ed it into place..

Foamed around it to seal 'er up..

Same thing on the driver's side


The foam became a bit unruley (sp?) so I had to push/wipe it into position with a grocery bag over my hand, worked pretty well.

Definitely not the prettiest fiberglassing ever..it'll be smoothed out and cleaned up..

This was the main cause of the rattling before, now its silent :)

Plastic pieces that would vibrate/flap during loud and low notes...taken care of..

The switch is kind of just chilling in the holder until I get a couple more switches in place to run inline with the amps remotes so I can turn them on/off as I wish. Pics when thats finished up

Alright, got some welding done today. Got 2 main supports welded across the car near the sunroof to then weld smaller supports upto the metal track of the sunroof to hold it in place instead of flapping in the wind with teh dbz..
