4g63 Timing problems
Put a junk head on and timed it perfectly no problems. Get the head rebuilt and i can hardly get the fucking belt on let alone the tensioner.

I am aligning my cam gear marks and then working the way down to the bottom marks. I am not even leaving the extra tooth on the tensioner pully side so when it gets tension it doesn't put everything off a tooth. When i do get the belt on which is a rare case it is tight as hell. I can't even push the damn pully up enough to get the tensioner in there secure...and yes the tensioner is compressed. wtf am i doing wrong? I'm about to try lining the bottom up and trying to get it over the cam gears next.

haha... there is an idler pullier that the tensioner pushs on. It is adjustable. I had the same problem at 1 time. Just loosen the pully. turn it a bit and it will loosen or tighten up. Sinmple im me for more details. if needed.

Yeah what he said. Its the pulley with the bolt thats offset (i.e. not in the center) Loosen that and you'll be fine.

well i went from the exhaust sprocket clockwise and got the belt on alright. I didn't adjust the tensioner pulley or ilder pulley although i did remove the tensioner pulley when installing water pump.. Since i did get the belt on and timed correctly does it matter if the bolt holding the pulley is offset as long as the bolt is torqed to spec?

comp is 160 accross...

scott i need another mbc...
