Wheel refinishing?

I bought a new (old) set of wheels for my rice mobile, and I want to have them refinished. They are a two piece wheel, and id like to have the lip/barrel polished, the bolts polished, and the center section powder coated black. Is there a place in town that could get all of this done? What kind of cost would I be looking at?

I have a guy in town that can do the centers you may check with a big truck place as many of them have wheel polishing machines to do wheels on semis

If you break them down bring me the centers I could coat them for $40-50 each. I would just want to see them before I put a firm price on them.

This may seem like a stupid question, but can I break the wheels down without removing the tires? I thought perhaps I could just deflate them almost all the way and then it would be ok to unbolt the centers.

It depends on how they're built. Are they a two piece or three piece, do you know? My Work Equips you would have to remove the tire to remove the face because it is sandwiched between the outer barrel and inner barrel. Seems like most other wheels I've seen they place the face behind both barrels which would mean you would just need to remove all the bolts and tap the face out. If it's just a two piece there would be no reason to dismount or deflate the tire.

Yeah it looks like your face bolts on top of the outer lip, shouldn't be an issue just removing the faces.

I would say just take the tires off, if you want to have the lips polished. Would be a whole lot easier

im leaning towards taking them to Glenn at Wheel Doctor and just paying to have the work done. I just dont have the time, patience, or expertise to feel comfortable trying it myself. Id rather pay someone that does and get a proper result.

I think Wheel doctor charges around $100-125 per wheel, its been a while since I've talked to them though.. GL

They said they wont do them because they dont do polishing... I guess ill have to figure out how to do it myself.

I have done a ton of MR5 polishing in my day, they're not too bad, I could knock them out most likely, $50 a wheel. There's a lot in supplies actually to do it right, plus I'm right around the corner off Foley.

I dont want the whole wheel polished, just the lips and bolts. If you will do that for $50 a wheel, you have a DEAL.
I could give them over to you with or without tires as im going to get some 195s instead of these 205s, since they rube just a tiny bit.

That's what I mean, for the lips. If the hardware can be done, I can knock that out as well.

Without tires is the best bet

Yes it would definitely be more cost efficient to do it yourself especially if you can manage to remove the tires on your own. The step is pretty simple actually only that it will not be extensive if you DIY but it is not impossible still.
