5.0 building!
So im swapping a 5.0 into a 1st gen rx7. Ive never had an american car or engine. From other forums im getting that to start i should do heads and cams, along with small stuff like ac delete etc.

Anybody have any experience with 5.0s, any numbers you could show me?

Check out Stangbangerz.com

There are always decent deals on parts, and some pretty knowledgeable people over there.

It's a mild turbo setup...making around 500....but since I'm a cheap ass....I can't seem to hold it together for longer than a few days at a time. :/

Are FBs all that different from FCs?

Grannysspeedshop.com for swap info/parts... I dunno about FBs though.

V8rx7 is also a forum. Look on there and see what you can find.

FBs are smaller and more like lawn mowers than FCs

If you wanted to go the cheapie route, and make *decent* power, here's a combo that seems to work well:

GT40P heads (off of the later model 5 liter explorers)
GT40P Intake (same) or Trick Flow
One of the 303 series camshafts, likely an F cam...
Roller rockers 1.6's or 1.7's
Longtubes
bolt-on's
gear
tune

or go carb'ed...

Victor Jr heads + E cam seem to work pretty damn well. Had one roll through that made 300ish with crappy headers and that combo.

You're a liar.

Your Ford Escort Wagon was most certainly an american vehicle.
