steering problem
I have a 1998 honda civic dx that i switched from power rack to manual. I am having problems with the steering u-joint/coupler, for example when i go down a road and then make a right turn my steering wheel faces of to the right. I have ordered new couplers and still having the problem. I was thinking about ordering one for an hx model since thats a base model. any suggestions?

Have you tried replacing the steering wheel? It could be defective..

So after turning and then going straight again the wheel is still the direction you just turned?

If so, sounds like the rack is sliding in the bushings its mounted to the frame with.

Escorts had this problem, the bushings would slide out over time and it would make it weird to drive the damn things. Lol

Which U Joint did you use?

The U Joint must match the rack. PS rack is bigger so if you swapped in a manual rack and subframe, but kept the old U Joint, you might wanna put me as a benefactor on your insurance policy.

But why swap the power rack out? It has a quicker ratio. Modify it to remove the power steering in same fashion as a Miata.

Oh wait, broke dick ricer wants to remove PS when racers are trying to add it for quicker steering.

Or the fact the rack was bad anyways and didn't have the pump, so why would I go out and buy a new rack, and a pump.

45, only one parent still alive, helping my 73 year old mother with tasks around the house that she can no longer take care of, no basement here either, just a two story house, the steps are becoming an issue for her.
