Turbo Dodge Owner Needs Help
Hey guys. I have a 86 Shelby Charger that I'm having a problem with and I thought I would post on here to see if anyone can help. I have had the car a few years now. It sits alot as I only take it to a few cruises and shows. A few weeks ago I took the plugs out to check them as the car had started to idle a bit rough. The plugs looked great and I put them back in. In the process I crossed a couple of plug wires and the car ran even worse. Friday I got my manual out and put the plug wires on according to both the manual and the same as my sons 89 CSX. when I went to start it up it would not start. It cranks but while doing so it has an intermitent pop. What could be wrong? Any help would be much appreciated.

Whenever these cars act up, first look at the Hall Effect pickup in the distributor. Make sure it's plugged in tight, I've had 'em come loose.
Maybe swap it out with one from the CSX.

Remove the lead from the coil to dist and check for spark first.

Thanks for the help guys. Here's what my son and I found out. The car is getting fuel. The car has spark. We did switch the Hall effect pickup from my car and my sons CSX. After all that my car still will not start. My sons car starts right up so both pickups are good. My sons CSX is #150. My son seems to think the timimg jumped somehow. Any other ideas?

OK. I know it's been awhile but I just got the car back last week. The fuel pump was bad. Nick from Spade Creations has been working on it for me. He replaced the fuel pump and it still would not start. After a complete tuneup, new fuel lines still no start. Finally ordered a new power module from Chrysler and she runs again. I still have a problem but it's running pretty good. The problem I have is the car will not run with the plug wires hooked up the way the manual says. So it looks like somewhere along the line the distributor was installed wrong and it's not lined up correctly. The bottom line is the car is running and I was able to take it to Quaker Steak and lube Sunday for there cruisein. When the cruisein show season is over I will tackle the distributor issue. Thanks to everyone for there help and suggestions.
