Exhaust Pipe/Welding/Combination question
OK so like the ricer I am, I'm putting cutouts on my caddy. Yeah yeah flame away.

Anyway, I have 2" dual exhaust. Really- they make 2" exhaust. Crazy eh?

Anyway, so I can buy a 2" stainless cutout, or a 2 1/4" cutout. the exhaust has a 2 1/8" OD, so should I get a 2 1/4" cutout and clamp the hell out of it, should I go to autozone and buy flanges for either one of them, or what should I use to combine them?

I've put mufflers and exhaust systems on where you use a reducer as necessary and clamp/weld, but I've never tried to just stick something inline except when I rewelded in a cat, but that wasn't stainless. When I put the stainless exhaust on my camaro, I clamped it.

Since its stainless to non-stainless, I can't weld it. Any pointers appreciated.

you can weld it, it just wont be the best weld, clamping that much diff it will probably leak on you. Get one of the cheap pipe epanders from AZ and bump your 2" up a bit

Buy a pipe expander, or use a reducer bushing. High-Temp RTV will be your friend.

Shitty weld added just in case :)

Thanks for your input.

I went to see what reducers they had at AZ. Decided not to buy a reducer at all, but instead to just buy a 2.25" ID cutout and two 2.125" Spacers, which should fit right over the 2" exhaust pipe allowing me to clamp them. I want to clamp them so I can remove it in 6 months when I sell the car because no one wants a cadillac with cutouts.

I tell myself I'm going to keep the car "forever" but I've never kept a car more than a year and a half as a DD... haha.

Thanks again for the recommendation on the spacer. we'll see how it turns out!
