Koni/ground control, around 1200 to put together, best setup for the money.

Are you going to DD the car?
Do you care about ride quality or just track quality?
Do you care about levels of damper / ride height adjustment?
What is your price point?
How often will you auto-x / road race?

Koni/Ground Control.
By far, best customer service out there. None of the "pay for a name" JDM garbage. Full lifetime warranty on the Koni products, as well as custom spring rates available.
Here's the S14 setup with camber plates.

I have the track/serious school kit on my E36 M3, 550lb spring rates all around and it handles like it's on rails.

Based upon your elaborate thread, I'd suggest lowering springs. It'll probably never actually be raced.

GC/Koni is still the best bet for you're criteria. Call them, you can get virtually any setup you can think of.

AST, JRZ, or KW but really I wouldn't even bother spending money on good coilovers without actually going out and doing a season with whatever you have. NAPA cheap rotors, good set of pads and fluid, and a maintained vehicle is all you need.
Oh and don't be like every other ricer now adays and "prep" their car by putting crappy useless bolt in cages, stupid tow hooks, and other track type stuff that they think is needed and then justify their unused purchases by saying that they are going to track the car because that apparently is the cool thing to do. If I had a dollar for everyone this season saying they are going to race their car but never ever will I could probably buy me a set of a6's for next year.

This. If you actually care about the handling and performance of the car, get the GC/Koni combo. If you just want to the car to be low and/or hellaflush just get some $400 Emusa coilovers.

These are the original manufacturer of Megan, BC, Tein Basic, K Sport.
You want real setup, Motons & Swift Springs or Sachs Coilover with remote reservoir.

May want to check out Bilstein... I absolutely love them in comparison to the Koni's (with GC sleeves) that I had on the Rabbit.

Unfortunately Bilstein don't make a shock specifically for S13/S14 applications. There is some talk online about using the 3000GT shock as it's similar in specs, but I've not seen anyone actually do it.

guys apparently build gc coilovers with custom housings using bilstein shocks. if you do research and want to piece together a coilover system you can go that route. i thought about it, and ill probably end up going with a complete coilover system from stance or tein or similar unless i can find a deal on someones used gc/koni setup. i dont think ill track or race the car enough to justify the extra cost. still in the air though. i have a while before i have to stress about suspension.

Brent, let me research the koni/gc a little more and see if we can figure out a price for my stance that'll make us both happy. Mine look damn near new.

Moton Club Sports $3299
Swift Custom Rated Springs for 2.5" perch $955
Rates F: 668 lb.
Rates R: 655 lbs
1" swift Helpers $245
If price was no object this is the setup I'd run. I would obviously check out different spring rates for the S chassis.

really you have to factor the use for the car. everyone wants to have a badass race setup, while never actually racing the car, or racing very minimal amounts.
sure, i want a car that is capable of handing badass, but i doubt ill notice a handling difference between off the shelf systems, or a custom built one. it takes driving and seat time to get a feel for minor differences like shock adjustment and spring rates. if you plan to autocross 2-3 times a year and street drive 90% of the time, might as well just get a standard coilover system IMO. really, i only want coilovers because springs and shocks sit too high. if there were a way to get a lower ride height from a s/s setup, id do it.
in short, theres not much sense in modding the car beyond your driving skill level.

I've seen Koni shocks used, but not Bilsteins. Pretty common setup on Nissanroadracing.

Koni yellow shocks are the bee's knees for non-coilover shock replacement
