2001 VW Golf alarm problem
The key fob for my Golf has never worked. Recently replaced the battery thinking that would work, but no luck. Tried to pull the the Central Locking fuse just for kicks, it looked fine so I put it back. Now every time I start my car or open my hatch the alarm goes off for 30 seconds then goes off. Any ideas? I'm not VW savvy at all..

Tried to look it up but keep seeing dozens of other alarm issues and nothing with the same symptoms as my problem. The car starts fine, and the alarm eventually goes off.

it's usually the door latch, has a switch in it that arms/disarms if the door is open or closed. Rather common VW issue I've replaced probably 10 in the last 2 years.

I don't think it's the latch because it worked fine, then I pulled the central lock fuse out, put it back in, and now it's doing this. Unless it's just an insane coincidence?

It's likely just your convience control module going bad. Pretty common. My Wifes Jetta did kinda the same thing untill I replaced it.

For anyone who may be interested in this in the future, all I did was reset the ECU and it's fine now.
