700r4 issues
I have a 90 gmc sierra I use as a work truck and to haul my trailer, it is a 5.7 auto w/od. Last week I was hauling a car and something failed in the transmission. I was accelerating from a stop and it took off fine, shifted into second fine as usual, and then when it shifted into third it just revved. I immediately pulled over and the truck would shift into any gear position selected (prnd21) but the truck would barely move, it would rev up and just lurch. The fluid is full clean and not burnt, smells fine, and only has around 10k on this fluid and filter change.

I towed the truck home and let it cool down and nothing has changed. So next I changed the fluid and filter and found nothing unusual and once it was all back together it is still acting the same.

I've got no clue here, whatever it is happened instantly, up until it failed it performed perfectly. I've already had the tranny out once to replace the rear main seal and the torque converter had grease pen marks on it like it has been replaced at some point, I don't know anything about this transmissions history, but it performed great up until now, truck has 180k on it.

yep, unfortunately at this point the tranny has to come out and replaced/rebuilt. luckily I was hauling a new car home I was going to fix and resell and now its gonna be the work truck, integras make good work trucks, right? I don't know that my truck is worthy of the 5.3, the swap would cost 5x what the truck is worth, lol...

Be very careful who you let rebuild your 700r4. Some people will claim to do some type of performance build and will just simply buy a rebuilt one off the web. Make sure to get all the numbers off the trans
