clunking noise
I know this is a ford thread but its a mercury cougar so is damn close to a ford. I got a 2002 mercury cougar that makes a clunking noise over bumps. I replaced the rear sway bar end links cause they were wore out. It sounds like its coming out of the rear. I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem. Thanks

drive it off a cliff, should help you diagnose the issue.

but on a serious note...did you check the bushings? even if theres no visible damage the sway bar could have lateral movement and be hitting the frame.

edit: fml spelling sucks when i wake up.

Pretty much every ford in the world needs balljoints, check them fuckers out. Could also be shocks making noise, just depends on the type of clunk you are getting.
