Plus I think that the strain on the battery from dropping to 6V then charged back to 12V all the time is taking its toll on the battery.
I basically just need to bite the bullet and buy a new alternator and battery. But now I'm in money save mode since I just had a baby, so it makes it even harder to justify. Oh well.

Well that pretty much blows. If your sure its the diode how hard would it be to solder a new one in. Yea I don't mind helping if someone needs it. People have helped me before so I know how that goes.

I've been trying to source a new rectifer for it, and nobody seems to be able to lookup the part for it. I've called like 15 alternator rebuilders across the nation and nobody can seem to find it. But then again, companies are rebuilding them, so someone knows what the part number and can get it. Its frusturating. I know I only need a $15-$30 part to get ti working again, but am gonna be forced to buy a whole new alternator to fix it. I can't seem to find anyplace that will be able to get me the right diode either.
After you helped me I actually thougth the same thing. I've helped push people out of harms way, changed flat tires for old ladies, etc, many times before. It finally came back around. I'm glad there are still other good people out there. |
