GM guys: 06 Envoy question
Not being familiar with this and having forgotten to look at it while I worked on it last, I'm trying to diagnose a noise in the front end (suspension/steering related) I had it doing a resistor pack and plug replacement and heard a creak from the front passenger side when turning. I quickly looked and couldn't see an immediate culprit but I did see an inner tie rod boot that had come open at the end. No drivability issues or other complaints. Only the creaking when turning at low speeds. I'd venture to guess the inner tie rod end is bad but can't fathom how that would cause the sound that I'm hearing. I've heard it on other vehicles but never had that repair before.

Any idears?

And it would creak like that without causing any other issue?

A creak is an indicator there is going to be a bigger issue in your future. You might also wanna check front control arms. The early year TBs and Envoys had control arm issues that were replaced under a service campaign.

Check the ball joints too if it only creaks when turning. They might not be worn out completely (where you can feel the play with it jacked up), but I've seen plenty of trucks do this in the past. Give em a few pumps of grease and see if it helps.

Alright. Thanks for the input fellas. He's a busy guy and trying to do this from a far. I went ahead and ordered the tie rod end because of the open boot. We'll go from there.
