Enclosure Build: 12" 'standardized' daily enclosure, Dougie style
Dougies back. I'm starting to come up with a line of 'standardized' daily enclosures to sell online and locally that should meet a nice array of needs for many different woofers and listening tastes. This is just a first of many to come and, in time, my build times and pricing should drop as I streamline material use etc etc. These will be prewired and 100% ready to rock out of the box.

Anyways, this will be for a single 12" and specs come to:

-1.77 cubic feet net (using a DC lvl 3 for displacement reference, .16 cubes)
-32hz tuning
-27 sq inches of port area

Onto pics:

Rounded over inside lip of inner baffle...

Countersunk terminal cup...

Quick mock-up...nothing mounted yet...

More to come ;)

Moar...

To seal the channel in the 45 for the speaker wire...filled the channel that the wire lays in with this, good stuff.

Added a dab of epoxy to the speaker wire to fix it to the wall so it isn't just flopping around with all of the stress/motion aimed at the seal

More when it happens...

Got it cleaned up a bit to take some better shots ;)

Tape just there until the epoxy dries...

Tomorrow I'll be soldering the speaker wire + terminal cup, getting the top on, and finishing everything off :)

So all your boxes are just glued together? Have you ever had one come apart?

All of my past enclosures have been glued and screwed...this is the first enclosure that I've built with glue + brad nails. And this is also 7/8" MDF, too...heavy ish.

But, to answer your question...no, I've never had a panel separation/failure on an enclosure. I just took a few solid whacks at this box with a mallet, pretty hard hits, and it didnt flinch...and the top isnt even on yet. I don't foresee this enclosure batting an eye at even a high power woofer+amp setup.

As a former bass-head, I give you props. You do good work!

Have you seen any advantage to fiberglassing the inside of the box....specifically sealed boxes.

Thanks and for a sealed enclosure I would probably resin the inside just to total seal the wood but for ported enclosure I wouldn't see any advantage in a daily enclosure. If you're competing and looking to gain .1's here and there experimenting with it can pay off but to get true smoothness Id want to sand it, wet sand it, and polish it down with compound to truly get it smooth and even...lots of work :/
