Bass actually does hurt your ears. Bass frequencies contribute to sustained hearing loss however, while hearing loss due to high frequencies is going to be the most noticeable immediately after listening, then hearing will be regained over the next few minutes/hours/day(s) depending on how long and how loud you listened.

The reason why you probably think bass can't hurt your ears is probably because your subs don't actually get loud enough to cause damage, or you just haven't noticed it yet. You need a significant amount of bass to cause damage, but in the long run it is worse.

That being said i would like to include:

i am almost deaf now so it can hurt your ears and when you start to lose your hearing you gotta remember the days when you could hear and you only have one set of ear drums and hearing aids suck ass
