i have a 95 talon esi. i jus had the head rebuilt and i got home two days ago from work and it was making a chirping or clicking noise from around the area of the timing belt and valve cover area. i was wondering if anybody knew what this was. i checked the oil it was low so i put some in and i went away ti this morning. it clicks in a pattern( click click)but then when i rev it up it jus goes haywire. help please!!!!!!!!!!!

Lifter tick maybe? Do NA's even get lifter tick? I'm not sure, just kind of brainstorming. Does it go away after the car warms up?

nope i wasnt doing it when i left for school then when i got up to school it was doing it agaain(half hour drive)

it's prob. your valves they just need to be adjusted. I had to do the same.

i found it it is the power steering pump just gettin ready to go thanks for the help though b

Something I noiced that my car does is when its cold out, after i start it up maybe 1 minute later i start hearing a slapping sound. like hit...nothing.. hit... nothin but faster. foudn out that if i push on the tbelt cover in one direction it gets louder and I can feel the gear hitting the cover. if i push it the other way, it goes away. NOW, whether or not this is bad I dont know. its only when its cold and then once its warmed up it goes away. as far as i know its fine and has yet to affect anything in the last 2years i have had it. but as i said it only does it when its like 40 or less out.

hey Eagle 5?? ever thought of just taking the cover off completely and throwing it on the workbench??

the cover would hit my timing gears on my Focus and after a while the plastic melted and cracked and tore my timing belt in half..on the highway!!

Yep that's what was wrong with my 1G
